Welsh Under 16´s Championship / Rileys Newport / 19 April 2009
Duane Jones continued his dominance in this age group by winning this event which made it 3 wins out of 4 at the Under 16’s level this season for the Mountain Ash player. This win gives him the title of the Welsh Under 16’s Champion and also the Welsh Under 19’s Champion he won in March.
In the Final Duane had to come from 2-0 down against the rampant Jamie Clarke (Llanelli) who compiled two excellent breaks of 35 and 57 after Duane had led in both frames. Duane however refused to wilt and took the next with a good 46 break.
This was followed by a masterly 127 clearance which levelled the match. The deciding frame saw both players being a bit more cautious, but it was Duane who demonstrated a slightly better tactical awareness to take it for a magnificent victory.

Welsh Under 16´s Event 3 / Morriston Snooker Club / 25 January 2009
Duane Jones one of the up and coming youngsters in Wales won the Under 16’s Welsh Ranking Event 3 at Morriston Snooker Club Swansea at the week-end. He beat Swansea’s Kristian Phelps in the final by 3 – 1. No high breaks were recorded but the shock of the tournament were the first round defeat of two of the seeds Jak Jones (Cross Keys) and Jamie Clarke (Llanelli).
On the run up to the final Duane beat Greg Lee in the first round aided by a 41 break by 2–0, David Gregory 2-0, and fellow Welsh Junior Internationals Nathan Devonport 2-0 and Kishan Hirani 2-1. He then went on to win the final 3-1 against local lad Kristian Phelps (Swansea) who was competing in his first final.
Kristian Phelps also had a good run up to the final beating Thomas Vedmore (winner of the Plate) in the first round 2-0 Josh Conroy 2-0 Jerry Conners 2-1 and Nicky Driscoll 2-0.
Shock of the tournament was the first round defeat of Llanelli’s Jamie Clarke 2-1 by Luke Haines and Kieron Elliot losing to Ryan Rowlands 2-0. Both players being members of the “Elite Coaching” scheme. Also went out was Jac Jones (Cross Keys) the No. 2 seed in the first round.

Welsh Under 16´s Event 2 / Rileys Wellington / 14 December 2008
Duane Jones (Mountain Ash) made it two out of two as he won this second under 16s. event of the season. He was given a fright in the semi final by the improving Edward Topham (Cardiff) who took the first frame impressively and could have won 2-0 but Duane is developing into very steady performer under pressure and he eventually got over the line 2-1.
Jak Jones (Cwmbran) reached the final with a 2-0 win over Thomas Vedmore (Barry) who had beaten junior international Jamie Clarke (Llanelli) at the quarter final stage.
Another junior international, Nathan Davenport (Corwen) was beaten in round one by Thomas Rees Swansea) who looks to be one to watch for the future.
Duane started like a train racing into a 2-0 lead with breaks of 49 and 45 however Jak fought his way back into the match aided by a break of 32. The next frame was close but just as it looked as if Jak would level at 2-2 he played a loose safety shot on the pink which allowed Duane to take pink and black for a 3-1 win.

Under 14's No.1 Rhys Thomas (Trethomas) won the plate defeating under 14s international team mate Kieran Elliot (Llanelli) 2-0 in the final.
Welsh Under 16´s Event 1 / Whitez Snooker Club / 2 November 2008
As expected the top seeds came through to the final of the under 16 event with the Welsh Junior Under 16’s Captain Duane Jones (Mountain Ash) coming through to beat Welsh International Jamie Clarke (Llanelli) in the Final by 3-0.A total of 37 entries contested the title of the Under 16’s ranking Event 1 coming from as far as North Wales down to Llanelli.
In his run up to the final Duane remained undefeated without dropping a single frame, also having the highest break of the competition a brilliant 118 break against Jerry Conners missing a difficult pink ball to clear up. On his way to the final he had straight wins against Sam Wilkins 2-0 Swansea’s Ieuan Davies 2-0, Jerry Connor 2-0, and fellow Junior International Nathan Davenport 2-0.
Setting an example once again in the final against Llanelli’s Jamie Clarke he produced some excellent form making breaks of 34, 42, 39, 38, 36, 54 to give him a 3-0 victory over his rival. An excellent performance by the most consistence player on the day.
In the bottom half of the draw players to catch the eye who reached the semi-final stages were Jak Jones (Cross Keys) North Walian Nathan Davenport and Llanelli’s Jamie Clarke who came runner-up.
